Skype has moved its connect service out of beta and is pitching it at businesses, as speculation grows surrounding Skype’s imminent share sale.
Skype Connect is the name for a service that connects a SIP enabled PBX to Skype
The service has been in beta for the last few months, but is now available to any one with an approved PBX who wants to tie corporate communications into Skype.
Skype Connect brings Skype’s capabilities somewhere near those of Cloud Net’s business telephony service, Cloud Net Connect.
Cloud Net’s service has been available for over a year, not only does it have a richer feature set than Skype Connect, it costs less too. Cloud Net Connect is provided from within the UK using a UK based hosted solution.
