Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt made a speech to the Reform group on Monday the 6th of December. In it he announced the government's intention to put a "fibre point" in every community in Britain by 2015.

Even if the headline promises of £830m isn’t quite what the headlines imply it is all good news. Britain’s network infrastructure is terrible in places, with data being carried across wire with multiple crimped joints strung across telegraph poles in the middle of fields - a technology which was obsolete in the 1960's. There are still lead cables out there carrying voice traffic.
Cloudnet’s Connect telephone business telephone systems rely on the internet to carry their voice traffic and welcome anything that makes the web faster and more resilient.
All of the large infrastructure players will want a piece of the action with of course BT wanting – and inevitably getting the largest slice of the pie.
However to snipe would be churlish – we need the best broadband that the country can afford and I for one welcome the initiative with open arms. As an interested party I would of course recommend that you get voice optimised broadband from Cloudnet. To coin a phrase you can never have too much power, sex or bandwidth.
