Nexus S Smartphone - The Latest Salvo From Google

The Nexus S is Google’s latest salvo in the smartphone wars. It is an Android phone with a 4 inch AMOLED display. It has Gingerbread, the latest Android system and operates with a 1GHz Hummingbird processor.

It comes pre-installed with the best apps from Google. You get YouTube, Google Maps, Voice Commands and hundreds of apps and widgets. You will also be the first to receive upgrades and updates as soon as they are around.
The big USP is that this smartphone is equipped with NFC (Near Field Communication System). As long as an item has an NFC chip, Nexus S will read it. Soon NFC chips will start to replace credit cards in paying for goods in stores - Google got there first. It will be available at Carphone Warehouse very shortly.
This sounds like a great phone and it will certainly appeal to the “anything but Apple”, brigade that is growing by the day. It seems to be clearly in line with Google’s strategy of gaining a foothold in a market by offering amazing deals and then leveraging that position. Which all adds up to a great deal for the consumer.
If I was a manufacturer like HTC for example I think I would struggle with a vendor that sets up in competition with my brand.
So let the smart phone wars rage on, i’ve got another year to go before my next upgrade and by that time we’ll have mainframe computational power in our pockets - Bring it on!
