ITSPA – the Internet Telephony Service Providers association held its latest awards ceremony in the House of Parliament on Thursday the 10th of December 2010.
The ceremony was attended by over a hundred people including parliamentarians, civil servants and industry representatives. It took place in the Strangers Dining Room of the House of Commons and was hosted by Andrew Miller MP.
Andrew said, "The single enabling technology which allowed the world to become a single market place is communications." With this in mind he was delighted to introduce the awards, especially because of the very exciting times that the industry was in.
Charles Chance, Managing Director, and David Hill, Chairman, went along to observe proceedings and meet the people that are moving the industry forward. As they arrived a military helicopter hovered over Big Ben but it turned out that this was business as usual and not ITSPA members arriving.
As part of the build up to the awards research on the quality of VoIP was carried out examining voice quality, reliability and call set-up times all of which were equal to or better than PSTN.

Eli Katz, ITSPA Chairman, said, "I would like to congratulate the 2009 ITSPA Awards winners and finalists. It has been excellent to follow on from the inaugural awards last year with an equally competitive nomination process in 2009. Despite the tough economic conditions, residential and business customers are increasingly becoming more aware of the opportunities that IP based Communications Services can offer.
David Hill, Cloud Net Chairman, said, “I would like to thank all that made these awards possible and look forward to 2010 when SIP will become the theme of the new decade.”
