WHAT IS HORIZON FROM GAMMA – AN INSTANT SUMMARY

Gamma describes Horizon as “ a hosted PBX providing an array of features to suit the needs of businesses. It is operated through a choice of devices to suit the individual user; handset, mobile or desktop. Web interfaces allow real time access and changes to the many services available on user basis.”
 
Horizon is a product based on an infrastructure provided by Broadsoft who also provide the infrastructure behind the cloud phone solutions from the other major players such as BT.

WHO ARE GAMMA?

Gamma are an AIM listed company turning over around £200m with pre tax profits of about £20m and a share value of around £60m. They are headquartered in Newbury UK with a branch in Budapest.

HOW IS HORIZON SOLD?

Gamma sells Horizon primarily through Channel Partners. Channel Partners are independent businesses who buy the service from Gamma under a variety of models before selling it on to end consumers. Gamma also sell to the UK government under a direct framework.
Gamma do not give numbers of Channel Partners but claim over 600 attended a recent event. You can see a visual directory of companies who sell Horizon here.

HOW MUCH DOES HORIZON COST?

The cost to the end user is governed by the Channel Partner who is responsible for the sale. It will be dependant upon the hardware selected, the length of contract and  other factors at the point of sale.

HOW IS IT RUN?

Local administrators at the end users company manage and configure the system according to the organisation’s needs. Employees can then manage their own calls.

WHAT FEATURES ARE THERE?

These features are listed on the government’s site:
 
  • Disaster Recovery – make/receive calls, any number/network
  • Twinning – pair another number to ring simultaneously
  • Soft Clients – your PC/mobile becomes your Horizon handset
  • Call Recording – all calls or on demand, stored on-line
  • Call Centre Module - increased functionality for supervisor/agents
  • Site Admin – Administrator access for company and site hierarchy
  • Hot Desk – use any Horizon handset as your extension
  • CLI Presentation – Choose any number as your presented CLI
  • Scheduling – Automatically route calls dependant on time of day
  • Hunt groups – distribute calls simultaneously, weighted, as a ring
